Building Envelope Commissioning

Building Envelope Commissioning is a process wherein the energy performance of a facility’s enclosure is evaluated and verified against defined objectives and criteria. DEI’s building envelope commissioning services focuses on two main areas of building envelope evaluation:

  • Water Infiltration and Leak Detection
  • Infrared Thermography

The building enclosure commissioning process is carried out by our commissioning team using reliable and accurate devices to verify that the facility meets specific enclosure requirements outlined by the owner.

Water Infiltration and Leak Detection

When moisture is not detected and fixed promptly, it can cause severe damage. Leaking water can decay and erode the walls, foundation, ceilings, and damage flooring. DEI evaluates and finds the source and cause of all your building water intrusion sources.

By using advanced thermal imaging equipment and other electronic equipment, we zero in on the source of the water intrusion.  We determine where the water is coming from, draft a solution and even help in getting pricing from contractors for the repair.

In short, our team will ensure that all water infiltration or leak source are found and that proper permanent repairs are specified.

Infrared Thermography

DEI’s building Infrared thermography is basically a method which detects infrared energy emitted from exterior building walls and roof. It is a safe non-destructive method for building envelope diagnostics and it is a reliable measurement method for determining exterior surface temperature distributions.

Our building envelope Infrared thermography service provides a useful tool for the characterization of defects found in any building’s exterior enclosure. The benefits of building envelope commissioning and thermography will come in the form of future energy savings and extended asset life.
